Sponsoring Chefs on 457 Visas… What you need to know

Written by TPRC Admin | Jan 3, 2016 4:22:00 AM

If your restaurant is struggling to source quality chefs or continually dealing with high turnover rates, then maybe it’s time to look overseas. Hiring or “sponsoring” a chef or cook on a 457 Visa could be the answer to your staffing issues.

Your business will benefit in a number of ways, including:

  • Sponsored workers have restricted working conditions (linked to your business by their Visa conditions) which means you can be assured of staff availability and staff turnover levels are reduced
  • Sponsored workers are keen and committed as this is an opportunity for them to better themselves and their families by moving to Australia
  • Larger talent pool to hire from
  • Diversity in your team and new ideas introduced by the employee into your kitchen and business
  • Overseas workers are generally multi-skilled and highly motivated workers.
  • A quick and economical solution to finding skilled chefs
  • You have a positive incentive for retention with the ability to sponsor your employee for permanent residency after 2 years if applicable.
